Hoodia Gordonii Reviews
Hoodia Gordonii is a very popular weight loss pill on the web nowadays. If you research online for weight loss supplement then probably you have read for Hoodia Gordonii. Hoodia Gordonii is surely the most popular and discussed diet supplement on the internet.
The makers of this diet pill have presented it as the most effective natural appetite suppressant, which has been released on the market ever. They were claiming that this dietary plant contains an ingredient that is able to do miracles.
According to them, Hoodia Gordonii will lead to the end to obesity. Of course, we have heard too much outrageous claims and we know that they are usually just a marketing strategy. What is more interesting for us is whether these claims are a fiction or a truth.
Let’s examine and review the ingredients in Hoodia Gordonii
The name Hoodia Gordonii is actually the name of a plant (to be more specific a cactus of the aloe family) which grows usually in the Kalahari desert of South Africa. There is a story, which says that Hoodia Gordonii has been used long ago by the native Kalahari bushmen to suppress their appetite during long trips through the desert.
Some retailers even make outrageous claims that obesity levels among bushmen are very low because of this cactus. We are not sure whether these claims are true. However, we are sure that without the help of Kentucky Fried Chicken or McDonald's or restaurants, bushmen would find it hard to become fat!
No one can offer any solid clinical data backing up the effectiveness of this product. However, some studies have been made. Scientists have isolated the miracle ingredient, which Hoodia Gordonii contains.
They called it P57 and they believed that Hoodia Gordonii’s natural appetite suppressing abilities are due to this ingredient. The isolated molecule of P57 was first under development by a company called PhytoPharm.
The U.S. pharmaceutical giant Pfizer also licensed P57 for development. However, in 2003 Pfizer discontinued clinical research and development of P57.
The clinical studies of the natural appetite suppressing effects of Hoodia that have been made by PhytoPharm have never been published. Why PhytoPharm still keep their studies unrevealed?
These mystery plus other factors make the effectiveness of Hoodia doubtful. In 2004, PhytoPharm announced that with the help of Unilever (who owns Knorr, SlimFast and Hellman's and others) within 3 years they will bring the active P57 molecule to the market.
I can say that the Hoodia’s potency and effects to suppress hunger is undoubted, particularly with pure Hoodia. Fresh, raw pieces of the plant have proven Hoodia’s effectiveness. However, I cannot say the same for the Hoodia products.
I believe that Hoodia diet pills extract generally contain too little, if any, of the miracle ingredient, which can suppress appetite. No clinical study has yet demonstrated the effectiveness of powdered Hoodia.
About side effects:
At this time, there are no know side effects.
What makes the effectiveness of Hoodia extract even more questionable is that the export of this plant is prohibited in South Africa. Hoodia is on the endangered list of plants. At the same time, you can find Hoodia weight loss pills almost everywhere in the USA. Here comes the question: is there any pure Hoodia extract plant in my Hoodia pill?
Hoodia Gordonii could be found on the labels of products named Desert Burn, Mega Hoodia, HoodiaSpa, Slim Cactus, Afrigetics, Hoodia Slim plus Hoodoba.
My review leads me to think that the Hoodia weight loss products, which are currently available on the market, have some promise related to its ability to help losing weight.
Unfortunately, we have to wait until Unilever and Phytopharm release the real Hoodia pill. Until then, I recommend to be careful while purchasing and using Hoodia Gordonii.
